TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Student Teacher, Jewel Middle School, North Aurora, IL, October – December 2023
- Demonstrated to 6th grade how to form a pinch pot, as well as score and slip attachments such as a handle
- Guided 7th and 8th grade through their research of themes in music to help them design a custom album cover
- Combined aspects of pop art and complementary colors for a 6th-grade lesson plan based on observational drawing
- Developed a social justice research project for 7th and 8th grade that encouraged students to design a statement based on their topic using oil pastels in the style of graffiti
- Introduced Drawing 1 students to vine charcoal and compressed charcoal for a contour landscape project that emphasized value and naturalistic forms
- Selected artwork to be submitted and displayed for the NIU High School Invitational exhibit
- Translated PowerPoints, handouts, assessments, and more for multilingual students in their native language
- Organized artist critiques for Drawing 1 (Heeseop Yoon) and Visual Art (Justin Bower) to practice utilizing the Feldman Model
- Observed three different art teachers to compare their methods of instruction, assessment, and classroom management
- Co-taught a seven-week lesson plan to 5th grade focused on drawing still-lives with an emphasis on value through shading techniques (hatching, cross-hatching, contour, scribbling, and gestural)
- Composed a handout that allowed students to practice each shading technique before working on their project
- Guided students through a classroom art gallery where students described their artwork and received feedback from their peers
- Designed a six-week lesson plan for a group of eight students aged 4-7 that related to the overall theme of “Connections”
- Demonstrated the application of materials for each lesson before students began their projects
- Observed and reflected on clips of various environments and classroom management in terms of art education
- Presented three one-day lesson plans intended for early elementary students based on natural art techniques

- Familiarized myself with the sub plans left behind by teachers to guide students with their work throughout their class periods properly
- Monitored additional locations throughout the school, such as cafeteria and hallway supervision.
- Designed lessons for grades kindergarten through 8th that related to the theme selected for the week
- Assisted kids with creating paper mâché decorations to display on the float for the 4th of July parade
- Instructed a one-day workshop to no more than twelve students on carving linoleum blocks to create a patchwork print
- Identified the name and appearance of each carving blade, and demonstrated the results of using those blades
- Taught art programs to members from kindergarten through 8th grade in 30-minute periods
- Developed weekly workshop programs to introduce members to technical concepts surrounding the elements of art
